58% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot
The second wine of the prestigious Grand Cru Classé de Graves – Château Malartic-Lagravière – La Réserve de Malartic 2018 offers the expression of a great red wine from Pessac-Léognan in a very beautiful vintage for Bordeaux.
At the tasting, the La Réserve Malartic 2018 from Château Malartic-Lagravière offers an intense garnet red colour with purple highlights. Intensely aromatic, the bouquet reveals notes of red fruits and cassis, along with blackberry and currant. Beautiful liquorice and menthol notes appear as well as mineral notes. On the palate, the wine displays a fruity and silky frame, very vivacious thanks to a beautiful tension. The mid-palate displays juicy and aromatic fruit, as well as a great freshness and a nice balance. A great red wine from Graves in a grand vintage.
2nd wine of Chateau Malartic-Lagravière
This second wine of Malartic-Lagravière is rich with smooth tannins and generous blackberry fruits. A soft texture, ripe fruitiness and fine depth and density all contribute to a wine that will age well over the medium-term. (May, 2021)
Gentle-edged, this red offers a mix of damson plum and cherry purée notes that glide through easily, lined with red tea and mineral hints. Graceful finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2027. (2/1/2021)
It’s a medium to full-bodied, fleshy, impressively concentrated Graves that has ample fruit, some subtle oak and graphite, and classic earthy minerality. This beautifully balanced 2018 is going to drink nicely right out of the gate.
