Grape Variety
70% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon
Winemaker’s Notes:
“A lovely crimson colour. Rich, complex and fruity with aromas of summer fruits (strawberry, raspberry, blackberry). A very harmonious wine with a supple, rounded attack. Develops towards a fleshy sensation with very smooth tannins and long-lasting flavours on the palate. The perfect companion for a wide variety of meat dishes and cheeses.”
Tasting Notes:
A beautiful crimson red wine with a rich, complex fruity bouquet boasting aromas of strawberry, raspberry and blackberry.
Wine History:
Crafted from a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, sustainably grown in the clay-limestone soils of the historic Château Coustaut La Grangeotte in Médoc. Prior to the second World War, Château Coustaut la Grangeotte was renowned as one of the finest wines in the Bordeaux region. It won recognition with a Gold Medal at the Antwerp World Expo in the 1930s. Since then three generations have succeeded each other on this estate. They have implemented sustainable agriculture methods since 2000, in partnership with Yvon Mau. Château Coustaut La Grangeotte is located in the Médoc area of Bordeaux. Here the soil type is clay-limestone. Cold stabilization of the grapes takes place within 48 hours before temperature controlled fermentation occurs.
