Tasting Notes:
“The 2017 Château Couhins is all Sauvignon and offers a brilliant bouquet of white peach, tart pineapple, toast, and ample minerality. Fresh, focused, and lengthy on the palate, it’s a beautiful wine.”
This generous wine is full of white fruits and ripe acidity. A tangy texture balances this richness, giving edginess to the wine’s structure. At this stage, the wine is young, needing plenty of time for the concentration to soften and allow the wine to open. (RV) (3/2020)
This shows so much intensity and brightness with sliced limes and lemons. Some papaya, too. Medium-bodied, tight and fresh with vivid acidity. (1/13/2020)
The 2017 Couhins Blanc is airy, gracious and weightless, with tons of Sauvignon Blanc character. Lemon peel, white flowers, chamomile and white pepper come together in a bright, finely cut, chiseled white loaded with personality. (3/11/20)
Made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc, the Couhins 2017 Blanc starts off a little closed before revealing scents of fresh lime juice, lemonade and orange blossoms plus hints of wet pebbles, jasmine and white pepper. Medium-bodied, the palate delivers mouth-coating citrus and mineral layers plus a racy backbone, finishing long and chalky. Drinking Window : 2020 – 2026 (3/17/2020)
This is loaded with bright, honeysuckle-gilded flavors of yellow apple, white peach and pineapple core, as well as verbena and shortbread accents that hang deftly in the background, all set against a bracing salted butter note. Lovely now, but cellar briefly for a slightly broader effect. Drink now through 2024. (James Molesworth) (04/02/2019)
Full of flavour and grip, this has a lovely expressive nature, although it majors heavily on the grassy, passion fruit side of Sauvignon. A wine with bite and grip, this is full of pleasure for medium term drinking; another success for the whites in 2017. (4/25/2018)
